Things the Weather Station Doesn't See

It's Saturday and I was comfortably ensconced at my desk catching up on all the things I didn't get done during the week, when I felt the need for a second cup of coffee. And, as usual, I look out my kitchen window to survey the yard, see if Zizzy the chicken is clearing the yard of slugs and bugs, and check for wandering deer.

Lo and behold what do I see between the picnic table and the apple trees? Our first crocuses of the year!! Yup, the snow drops started a couple of weeks ago as did the daffodil sprouts, but the splash of colour from the crocuses, was a most delightful surprise. It almost took my breath away. It is only Feb 28th yet Spring things are happening!

Judith says anyone can have a cat or dog, so she went out and mustered up a deer and a chicken. The story goes like this. The yard is fenced, however you can still walk under the house if you're a chicken to get in and out. So the question remains is the deer smart enough to learn from the chicken, or is the chicken inviting home stray animals for company? I feel a thesis coming on.....
