Six months and counting....

Summer 1984
"A simpler time"
You guessed it, that is me in the black shorts.
Remind me again, why are we here in the winter?

X-Mas 2008

Thanks to Amanda and families, we had a wonderful treats and an evening of visiting!
Someone was naughty this year?
Soon after our own skylight crisis, we received a call from Len, that my folks house had some damage of its own we would have to attend to x-mas day!
Arbutus Tree. The chainsaw made sort order of this villain!
We went for a nice walk x-mas day with our friends Doug and Rachelle to give us a break from the endless fun that awaits us.
I woke up x-mas morning to find Santa dropping off Judith 2.0 affectionately referred to as ToPo. Unfortunately 2.0 is missing any documentation, so we will wait and see what the upgrade has in store for us this year! So far she has, well you know.

Rescue Squad

Rachelle, Doug and Al to the rescue. After some plywood cutting, screwing, and stapling and a lot of sweeping we still had time to enjoy a nice bowl of Judith's homemade chicken soup before the wind and rain started. We are hoping Santa will get word ASAP, and bring a couple of skylights on his sled tonight.

Happy Holidays

We still love snow, even if it comes off the roof and breaks through the kitchen skylight!

PeJu Snow Angels

His & Hers Snow Angels
Today seemed like the perfect morning to go out and play, wait that is everyday! Today is a little more special, I just cannot remember why. O well, it will come to me.

White Holiday

Really, what more could one want for the holidays. Life is good!

Pictures don't lie

OK, I know all you people that live west of the Rocky Mountains, are wondering what all the fuss is about! We love snow......

Happy Holidays

Presidential Outing

Rachelle, Veronica and Judith decided not to let the snow get in their way, "even if it was over three feet" of the fluffy stuff between dog patch and the post office.

Dog Patch Art Installation

Some would refer to this as a chicken house, we however know better. This is in fact an art instillation by a famous (soon to be more famous) artist and her partner.
This afternoon, as Judith and I were finishing three o’clock tea, we received a visit at the door by none other than Doug and Rachelle announcing to our surprise they spent their day making this stylish home for the flock. On behalf of chickens everywhere "thank you" and may you eat eggs guilt free.

Fair

Fall Has Benefits
The bounty was good this year at our annual fall fair, as you can see here even the farmers can't keep out of the goodies. The truth is fall is no where in sight? We spent the better part of yesterday sunbathing at the beach and picking berries and Judith is off today mountain biking. I guess we will have to leave out the lawn furniture and BBQ, what a shame.

Where there is a will there is a way!

"You, yes you! You will be healthy"

You leave her alone for a minute, and look what you get. Don't worry men it tastes better than it looks. Notice the clever use of a pot under the compost bucket.

Ha, ya right, almost had you there didn't I. Everyone knows it is Judith Birthday and our Anniversary everyday here in PeJu land.

Chicken Tractor (Phase One)

Gardening Island Style
In keeping with the environmental spirit in our corporate vision, this is the newest innovation (not a new innovation, just new to us) at world headquarters. It is called a chicken "tractor" (for you non-farming mainlanders, that means the chicken house is portable). The deal is as these boys and girls clear and fertilize the garden we move them along section by section to fresh grass and bugs and plant our garden along behind them as they go.
We've borrowed the chickens and the tractor, as an experiment, and if all goes well we will expand the flock and build a modern tractor (think Tim the Toolman carbon fiber, aluminum, fully automated, high tech computer assisted, super tractor with racing strips and flames with a hot tub and swim up bar/lounge) Nothing but the best for our new friends the chickens.

Stay tuned for more chicken news, this could get very exciting very quickly!

Gates, Latches, and Handles

Submission number one

Here is el president standing with last years winners F&MJ with their current and yet unfinished entry into the annual "take a day or several days off work to build a gate" competition here at world headquarters.
We are expecting some serious competition this year, with entries as far away as the Cove and possibly other parts of the world as this competition heats up for another year.
The fine detail and superior craftsmanship seen already from world champions such as this dynamic artistic duo brings strong competition to this years build off says our judges.
So take a day or as long as you like off work and send us your gate, you never know this could be your year to take the trophy home.

Stay tuned for
"take a day or several off work to build something interesting to put on the top of one of thirty hand dug by Judith fence posts" competition heating up next!

The Ski Run Is Open

Skiing in July?
No, this is just how islanders dress before they take on the mighty hills of dog patch on duct taped homemade Go-carts. In the end the blackberries always win. Details at 11:00!

Award Worthy Lilies

Click on the picture to see how big these really are!

While the rest of you have been working and/or bettering the outside world, our fearless leader has been tending her award worthy Lilies here on at the edge of the earth.
They're over six feet tall, have bullet proof stocks, and have come out to show the most beautiful flowers. I figure you might like to see the kind of gardening we tend to here at world headquarters during the workday of course. It has produced lots of shoots so you're welcome to have one or two for your own workplace if you like.
Also, I've installed a outdoor hot/cold shower to compliment the employee offering here at headquarters. It's a little risqué, but wonderful being outside under the warm rain shower.

Work & Party (workparty) minus the work and we're good to go!

Friday night was Jules birthday, so we mustered up some post twelve hour work week energy (twelve hours mostly taken up with golfing and walking in the park) for a get together which turned out to be fabulous mostly thanks to Amanda, our new "queen of the cake"!
Above is the "friends of Tuck society" and guest getting things set up around Dog Patch.
Above is our illustrious leader showing the next generation how to roast petroleum food products.

As of tonight the very secret and exclusive "Dog Patch" fire pit will be going full swing.
Bring your own: chairs, firewood, matches, drinks (enough to share with Doug), snacks (chips are best, but don't let you know who catch you sharing them with you know who or you will get the stink eye from you know who), warm blankets, paper, kindling, and parents. I will provide the relentless banter.

Of course, you must be in possession of the secret password to get by the green house guards at the top of "Dog Patch".

Our social convener, Renaud
will be in charge of selecting worthy "friends of Tuck society" members this summer and granting the coveted password. Hint: Renaud likes lego, candy and potato chips and we're not above bribery down here.
